Reality has set in and with that comes a mix of excitement & joy, fear & sadness. Our tickets have been booked for Tuesday July 26th. We will leave at 11:45am from Winnipeg and arrive in Addis Ababa the next day at 9:15pm. We are excited to reconnect with Ethiopian friends and missionary friends and we are filled with joy knowing that we are being obedient to the Lord in bringing the good news to the Gumuz people.
I personally experience some fear and sadness as we begin the countdown and I know this will increase for our children as well as we begin saying goodbye. So we ask that you would remember to pray for our family during this time - for physical protection, for emotional strength and spiritual wisdom.
Pray also that we would have a spirit of confidence as a family knowing that the Lord is with us. Pray that we would be filled with power and love and self-discipline in these coming weeks and months of transition.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of timidity but of power, love and of self-discipline.
I need a lot of self-discipline to spend some energy packing in the midst of farewells and birthday parties, and general summer fun!
