I woke up stiff and sore this morning from our hike and horseback ride at Lake Wonchi yesterday, so I wasn't sure whether we would go through with our plan for the day. After our traditional pancake birthday breakfast (where the birthday person gets their letter baked), Nadia opened up her two cards that had arrived in the mail.
We packed our swimsuits, towels, snacks and camera and headed to the Hilton pool. We dropped Mesalech off so she could go shopping with someone and we arrived at the pool about 10am. It was still fairly empty and we found some loungers and an umbrella.
The Hilton pool is filled with hot spring water so it is clean and refilled weekly but it is fairly hot (95F). After a yummy lunch of real chicken nuggets and french fries, we managed to stall our kids for 1/2 hour before ordering icecream cones. These cones were rather top heavy so Ariana lost hers before she even left the icecream shop and got a new one. Nadia's cone lasted longer and her ice cream toppled on the grass. We managed to retrieve it and she enjoyed it to the last drop!
We returned home and had tortillas for supper though Nadia was determined she was going to have pizza. So, I popped her open tortilla in the oven and she got the quick version. After skyping with my sister, we managed to get in a quick cupcake nightsnack. Nadia was thrilled with her pink cupcakes and yellow (her favorite color) candles. She worked at blowing out her candles but it took awhile for the air to pass between her teeth and lips. I think she might have gotten some secret help on the last one but she was pretty happy with herself. Tomorrow we will have some friends over to celebrate her birthday with a cake and real pizza.
Nadia didn't appreciate all the attention she got today but she is very proud to be THREE! Our prayer is that she would grow up to Love the Lord her God with all her heart, soul and mind and love her neighbour as herself! She is a gift from the Lord and she blesses our family everyday! Happy Birthday Nadia.
