The children and I are doing a unit on plants this month and the hands on possibilities are endless. To start off the unit, I gave the kids an hour to take pictures in Gesses of different trees and bushes. They had a great time and we ended with a delicious snack of the wild fruit in season.
When we print the pictures, we will try and get all the names of the trees written up. For now, just enjoy the variety of trees that greened out even with no rain for 8 months! It is truly God's gift to us.
This is a picture of the valley just behind our house. It is beautiful to us despite it being the driest time of the year. It is the place God has brought us.
In the highlands, flowers bloom all year round and tropical flowers (like hibiscus and poinsettas) grow into large bushes or small trees! I am always amazed at the variety of flowers in Ethiopia. Here are some pictures of flowers that Kalia took at the homeschool retreat.
