PTL! It looks like we have a working well again. It has been a long 2 weeks for everyone. Women have been digging for water in dried up springs and it generally takes 3 hours to fill up their jerricans. Everyone’s sleep has been affected as a result of this water shortage....even ours (though ours is from the women walking past our house late into the evening and the wee hours of the morning.)
Rolf was able to pick up the water technician this morning from Dibate (after 4 days of trying to get a hold of him) and they were able to find the problem. It seems the new pipes that had been placed weren’t long enough to reach the water without breaking the seal.
Rain continues to elude us but this well does actually produce enough water for the community around us. In outlying villages, women will continue to dig for water until the rains fill the streams with water from heaven!
