This afternoon, Andrea and I just finished a Bible study called Believing God by Beth Moore. It has been a challenging study. Believing God is our almighty God is absolutely vital for every single day that we serve in this place. Believing that we are able to do all things through Him who gives us strength is what spurs us on.
We ended the study praying for the Gumuz woman who Rolf took to Yamp today (near death with typhoid and malaria). We pray that her health might be restored so that she could know Christ. We prayed for Eychule who just lost her second baby in childbirth (both died shortly after she gave birth and she doesn’t have any children yet). Eychule is part of the woman’s Bible study each Thursday and we prayed that her faith would not waver though her heart is heavy.
And we prayed for our water situation. So many illnesses could be avoided with a proper supply of water year round. Rolf has temporarily fixed the well 3 times this week after spending all day Monday working on it.
More than this though we pray that the Gumuz would understand living water.....we can only truly have life as we put our trust in our Lord and Savior.
We were challenged to persevere in prayer entering into relationship with our Father and interceding on behalf of others. Do we actually believe that God will act on our behalf if we persist in prayer? It is a place that I have failed in over and over again. It is much easier to pray for short term situations than to pray without seeing the fruit of our labor.
Yet we all know people or situations that need persistent prayer. Through persistent prayer we are not only investing in our relationship with our Father but we are investing in the life of that person. So many people have poured themselves into my life, am I willing to do the same?
Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. James 5:16
