Thank you for praying for my friend Eytish and her 5 kids. We praise God that they were kept safe during the conflict in her home. Apparently life is “back to normal” for everyone involved because the men were relatives. Obviously the hurt is deep but in Gumuz land, hurts are pushed away and ignored because there are so many. If one actually spent too much time thinking, there would be no hope, no joy and no reason for life. This is something that both amazes me and disturbs me.
The Gumuz (like the Sudanese) are extremely strong physically and emotionally. Since they can handle so much though, life doesn’t seem to really get any easier. So pray for Eytish. Her husband may be physically back with her but unless he repents of his sin and turns to the Lord, there will be no lasting joy in this home.
