dThe month of August was difficult for many Gumuz as the maize crop was still not ready for harvest. One of the ways we were able to help was by providing food for work. We purchased quintels of grain from Dibate town and then hired women to cut grass for us in return for grain. They women love to cut grass together though we had to make sure that the groups were 5 women or less or very little grass got cut! t was a
25 boys came two times a week for a soccer outreach program. They had a Bible lesson, a snack and then enjoyed an hour of exercise and drills and scrimmaging. We look forward to seeing how soccer can reach many boys with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
These boys look pretty serious in this picture but there were lots of smiles as they played and practiced.
School starts this week in Gesses but there are many children who do not attend school for different reasons. We are hoping to select a new group of boys who do not attend school for the next soccer outreach program. This may include many of the same boys that attended the rainy season soccer program. Pray for these boys - that they will hear God's word and share it with their families. We believe that the gospel can grow through the lives of children!
