The work of termites....

The house we live in was built about 8 years ago.  Unfortunately the design was not entirely practical for an environment with termites.  These are busy creatures and it doesn’t take long for them to utterly destroy a building.

When we arrived 6 months ago, our bedroom floor was very soft and we were careful to walk on the areas that were somewhat firmer.  This last week though, the entire floor seemed extremely fragile so Rolf decided to plunge in.  He pulled up the tiles and ¾ of the plywood resting on metal sheeting was destroyed.   The steel tubing that this all rests on is really the only reason we didn’t fall through.

The ants and termites were still busily chewing up the wood and so the challenge is: how does Rolf replace the floor without it being immediately destroyed again?

I have a feeling for the next couple of nights, we will be sleeping in the living room.
