We are settling in here in Geses. The last 2 hours of the road was pretty bad as it had just rained. We drove in the ditch for part of the way due to the huge mud holes. We drove 115km and it took us over 3 hours. We have been busy hosting (yes, the next day, the Colemans arrived to move out their things as they are moving to Bahir Dar) and the Schwenks were sick. We have been busy cleaning and decluttering our house. It has been used by short termers and others who left everything behind and much of it is not needed in our home. There has also been some rat activity in our home and so I have had to clean everything before moving things in.
The children are loving life and enjoying friendship. Joel and Jonas (age 4) spend most of their day hunting, spying and collecting lizards, frogs and other small creatures. They will likely be the ones to alert everyone else to snakes or scorpions....a matter of prayer. Kalia, Emily and Ariana do things like tea parties, braiding, skipping, drawing. They also enjoyed the Coleman girls (age 7 Amy and Abby) for 2 days.
Our oldest 4 children all got bedbug bites in the hotel we stayed in and Sonia picked up something as well as she has been dealing with diahhrea for the past 3 days. Thankfully they are all in good spirits.
Rolf was able to meet with the 10 Gumuz evangelists yesterday and I am hoping to go to a village tomorrow with Askale - Ethiopian evangelist. Rolf is able to use Amharic with the men but as far as I know Gumuz women only speak Gumuz.
A few prayer requests include finding great language workers, a house helper and a Landcruiser. We will not be able to use a van as we hoped, especially during rainy season. Pray that God's hand would be in all this. We will be in Geses until the 21st and then need to travel to Addis to get our ID. Our personal email is not set up yet but we hope to do that in the next couple of days. We do have cell coverage here most of the time but no internet connection so communication is limited. We appreciate prayer specifically for safety and joy during this time of transition.
