Well, I think we have basically made it through jetlag (though other women have recently told me they felt weary for up to 2 weeks). The children and Rolf are sleeping quite well (not totally normal but close enough). Unfortunately I lay awake for most of the night again which makes it difficult to really enjoy life during the day. If it continues much longer, I will change my anti malaria medication before Malaria Monday (yes we gave a name to the day we take the bitter pills in order to remember).
Despite very little sleep, it was a really productive day. Rolf purchased a washing machine which will run off solar as well as a printer. He did numerous other tasks as well (and enjoyed it despite the crazy traffic in this city).
Later in the afternoon, he picked us up and took us to Bingham. Though I will get my driver's renewed, I have no desire to actually drive in this city. I will wait until the countryside.
I asked the children what was different between Addis Ababa and Winnipeg. The PEOPLE! Yes the pedestrians are numerous and you never know when they might leap in front of you. I don't imagine it would be great to drive with a heart condition.
Bingham Academy is the school where the kids will go from time to time as it is run by our mission. They saw their classrooms and met their teachers and we checked out a bunch of books from the library. Kalia was eager for chapter books!
Nadia just woke up after 2 hours of sleep so bye for now. Oh one more thing, one of the BIG things that happened today was that Rolf was able to get our internet connection going and for the first time we are able to skype in Ethiopia! Truly amazing.
I had the most wonderful connection with my mom today and she was able to see the children too! We won't have this connection at our station but up to an hour away.
