It's Friday and this may be the last update for awhile depending on how email goes after we arrive in Geses. We plan to leave for Geses tomorrow after lunch. It will take approximately 10 hours so we will drive 6 hours tomorrow and then 4 hours on Sunday arriving around noon. The rule is: no driving after dark in Ethiopia for numerous reasons. (It gets dark daily at about 7pm).
Sleeping has improved for everyone and even I was able to get some rest last night. Our time in Addis has been better than we expected and I think we succeeded in checking off our lists. We are eager to settle in to our new home and experience more space. We are just not city folks though with the blessing of the Berger home, our time has been very pleasant!
We need to return to Addis in about 2 weeks to get our Ethiopian ID and the oldest 3 children will attend a week of school at Bingham Academy (SIM run mission school). I will attend the homeschool conference during that time at Bingham and Rolf will finish business and hopefully be able to find or order a vehicle for us. It looks like we have 2 options: Toyoto Landcruiser or Toyota Van. We are leaning towards the van as it can hold up to 15 people. The landcruisers available apparently have passenger benches facing each other which sounds like a recipe for car sickness.
We will make our decision after we have experienced the road. We appreciate your prayers for safety as we travel, for our future vehicle and for our integration into life with our teammates - Schwenks and Williamsons and the Gumuz people!
