Yesterday, August 4th was Kalia's 9th birthday! We had our traditional pancake breakfast (at lunch though because of our late morning). She wanted to have Petros & Blain & Bereket over for supper and the menu she chose was injera be wat. When we left Ethiopia 2.5 years ago Kalia gave away her teaset. For her birthday, we gave her a new one. That evening, she served us all tea and I am sure she will serve many more people in the coming year.
Joel and Ariana bought some treats for her and she was thrilled with a bag of kolo (toasted barley with peanuts).
