I was able to attend all 3 days of the conference and Rolf managed to make purchases, cut steel and oversee the welding of doors and walls. I don't actually know how Rolf managed to do everything he did with Ariana and Nadia following behind.
I will include some pictures of the process at some point. Rolf is making prefabricated walls which will go on a truck next week. Then Rolf will knock out a window of our house and replace it with a door, add 3 walls and a floor. This means the 4 girls will have 2 rooms between them (presently Nadia and Sonia share our bedroom in Gesses which is not a long term arrangement). Joel gets his own small room.
Rolf and Barry will construct a homeschool classroom where the 5 school age children on our team can do their schoolwork and then a small guesthouse room will be constructed. We are hoping these rooms can be put together fairly quickly since they will be attached to a pre-existing metal roof (where vehicles were parked).
Today, we closed the homeschool conference with a pizza party. Rolf was able to meet the families and the children enjoyed playing together. After that, we spent the rest of the afternoon and evening with Steve & Doretha Limiero...a missionary family we have known for many years already. It was a joy to share together, pray together and enjoy each other's company. They will be moving to Nikempt in a few months time but we hope to find ways to connect with each other in Addis Ababa.
It has been sweet to form some new friendships with families who are living in similar circumstances to our own. My hope is that we will be able to encourage and pray for each other as we seek first His kingdom.
