We enjoyed having our weekly team supper/prayer time outdoors this evening. I made some chilli and graham crackers (to go with our last bag of marshmallows) and Nicole provided the hotdogs and Pringles.
After a full Saturday which included 3 trips to Dibate and beyond. Rolf drove in one car load of sick people and Barry took a group in as well. Then an hour later Barry was called again. A past employee and his mother were travelling by bus from Chagni back to Dibate. The mother died on the way. To make things worse, the bus then broke down and he was left on the side of the road. When Barry got the call, we lost our house workers for the day because they know this family well and headed to town for the funeral.
Though we cannot overlook the physical needs around us, our desire is ultimately to see spiritual healing. This is the only healing that will last. We can certainly see that finding a balance in meeting the needs around us will take great wisdom.
It was good to pray together, realizing again that Jesus faced all these challenges too. He faced crowds of physically ill people and had compassion on them but even more, he desired to see their sins forgiven.
