Weary but rejoicing, Gumuz elders elected.

Last night, Joel threw up 6 times between 11pm and 4:30am for no apparent reason.   This morning he was tired but feeling much better.  We got about 2 hours of sleep but went to church anyways.  I only stayed for ½ the service and then returned home to check on Joel & Kalia (who remained at home).

Just before church, Barry came to our door to inform us that they had received a phone call saying that Nicole’s grandma had suddenly passed away a day before her heart surgery was scheduled.  Hard news to hear.  Do pray for the Schwenks as they remain here in Gesses while their hearts yearn to be with family during this time.

Despite the challenges we faced, Barry and Rolf were able to sit with the baptized believers after the service today and see 3 men elected to be elders in the church.  This is an exciting step to see Gumuz qualified for these roles and eager to serve in their church.

I was blessed in church today to see the increase in attendance.  There were over 100 Gumuz and the circle had to be enlarged to its fullest capacity!  There were over 50 children under 10 years of age and about 20 women.   PTL!
